UPDATE: Hydroplaning Caused Aurora US 50 Crash

Photo provided by Aurora Police Department. Update published Tuesday, February 9 at 8:23 a.m.: Nobody was hurt in a crash between a semi and two passenger vehicles on U.S. 50 in Aurora Monday, Aurora Police said. According to APD Sgt. Shane Slack, the wreck occurred at around 2:00 p.m. on U.S. 50 westbound near Stewart Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a semi-tractor trailer to be blocking both west bound lanes of travel with damage to the front of the tractor. In addition,  heavy rear end damage to a Honda passenger car was observed and a Ford Crown Victoria passenger car was observed to have the right rear into the guardrail. The 2007 Ford Crown Victoria was operated by Cetina D. Glenn, 31, of Bennington. She told officers that while she was traveling east on U.S. 50 her vehicle hydroplaned and she lost control of the car as it sent her east bound in the west bound lanes of travel.  Glenn advised that the vehicle eventually spun around to face west just before the right rear crashed into the guardrail. The 2012 Honda Civic was operated by Jessica M. Gilb, 19, of Aurora. She said she was traveling west on U.S. 50 when she observed Glenn's Ford come across the highway toward her. Gilb advised that she was forced to slam on her brakes to avoid the crash when her vehicle was rear ended by the semi-tractor trailer. The driver of the 1976 Peterbilt semi truck, Carroll Rohrig, 58, of Milan, told police he saw the Crown Victoria coming across the highway as well and was not able to get his semi-tractor trailer stopped fast enough before crashing into the rear of the Honda and sliding sideways in the road. "Fortunately no one in the crash suffered any injuries.  Due to the semi-tractor trailer blocking both lanes of west bound U.S. 50 and unable to be removed without a tow truck, the roadway was completely shut down for about one hour," said Sgt. Slack. Aurora Police were assisted at the scene by Aurora EMS, Aurora Fire and Rescue and Lawrenceburg Fire and Rescue.   A possible three vehicle accident has shut down westbound U.S. 50 near Trester Hill in Aurora.
