(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Two Lawrenceburg men were caught speeding on Stateline Road, but it was what they allegedly had in the car that caused their arrests.
Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies made the traffic stop on Stateline Road near Sand Run Road on March 17 around 3:00 a.m.
Deputies say they observed a red Cadillac traveling southbound at 63 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone.
During the traffic stop, deputies say they detected marijuana coming from the car. According to a probable cause affidavit, the driver, Trenton Gehle, 18, admitted there was approximately seven grams of marijuana under the passenger seat that belonged to him.
Deputies also allegedly located a stolen Glock and a backpack containing a clear glass smoking device, rolling papers and a digital scale.
A passenger in the vehicle, Jared M. Viel, 18, allegedly told deputies the glass smoking device was his.
At that time, Gehle stated, “I plead the fifth, I’m not saying anything without a lawyer.”
Gehle is charged with Theft (Firearm), a level 6 felony, Carrying a Handgun Without a License (Class A misdemeanor), Possession of Marijuana (Class B misdemeanor) and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor).
Viel was only charged with Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor).
