(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Winter has not officially arrived in the tri-state until Perfect North Slopes opens.
Consider Fall 2011 a thing of the past.
The ski area in Dearborn County had its first day for skiers and snowboarders on Sunday, opening its runs at noon.
Temperatures have finally been cool enough for Perfect North to make enough snow using its more than 240 snow guns to support skiing.
Only a limited number of runs were open with three lifts operating. The snow tubing area is still a work in progress.
Perfect North is celebrating its 32nd season in business. Depending on weather, the ski area usually remains open into March.
Perfect North will be open noon to 8:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, with hours for Wednesday and beyond to be announced.
