The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of several traffic impacts in Kenton County on Interstates 71/75 and I-275 beginning Thursday, March 12. These traffic impacts are necessary to allow a safe space for crews to perform repair work to a damaged concrete barrier wall following a crash Thursday morning.

Traffic Impacts

  • I-71/75 southbound to I-275 eastbound ramp (0.0 to 0.6 mile points) will be blocked beginning Thursday afternoon (March 12) ahead of the evening rush hour. The ramp is expected to reopen Thursday evening by 8 p.m.
  • I-71/75 northbound left lane closure from south of Donaldson Highway (183.6 mile point) to north of the I-71/75 and I-275 interchange (185.3 mile point). This lane closure will remain in place through Friday, March 13.
  • I-71/75 northbound left shoulder closure from south of Donaldson Highway to north of the I-71/75 and I-275 interchange. This shoulder closure will remain in place through Friday, March 20.

Crews will square the wall, form the new portion of barrier wall, re-tie the steel and then form the completed wall.

Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid traffic delays during peak travel times. During the ramp closure, motorists can detour by using I-71/75 southbound to I-275 westbound to Mineola Pike (KY 3076), to I-275 eastbound.

KYTC will advise on social media and the District 6 Roadshow once the ramp and lane reopen.
