(Hamilton County, Oh.) - If you don’t live in the county, those little windshield triangles that get your vehicle into Great Parks of Hamilton County will soon cost more. The Hamilton County Great Parks Board of Commissioners recently approved a hike in the motor vehicle permit price for non-county residents. Any vehicle entering a county park must have the permit. “Motor vehicle permits help keep Great Parks of Hamilton County self-sustainable,” Great Parks Executive Director Jack Sutton said. “This is another step in our due diligence process to meeting the needs of our county residents.” According to the park system’s website, Starting October 1, the cost of an annual permit for a non-resident will jump from $10 per vehicle up to $14. Starting January 1, 2017, daily permits for non-residents will go from $3 to $5 per vehicle. The park permit rates will remain unchanged for Hamilton County residents: $10 for an annual permit and $3 for a daily permit. However, the Hamilton County Great Parks is asking county voters to approve a 1 mill, 10-year tax replacement levy in the November 8 election. If it passes, the new levy would cost property owners up to $38.50 per $100,000 in valuation each year. The levy would replace a 15-year levy that is due to expire at the end of 2017.
