Sydney Rae Hornberger is among fewer than one percent of high school seniors nationally to receive a scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

(St. Leon, Ind.) - An East Central High School student has earned a prestigious National Merit Scholarship.
Sydney Rae Hornberger was announced this week as the winner of a National Merit $2,500 Scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Only about 2,500 students nationwide were chosen for the scholarship out of 15,000 finalists nationwide. The winners – representing less than one percent of all U.S. high school seniors – were judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
Hornberger, of Sunman, plans to pursue a career in chemistry.
