Auto Dealer Gets Six Years For Title Scam

(Harrison, Oh.) - A Harrison automotive dealer has been sentenced to six-years in prison for taking over $350,000 from a bank through a car title scam.

Lee Brown Auto was a longtime, reputable dealer in the city. That reputation has likely been sullied.

Albert Lee Brown, 64, recently agreed to a plea bargain in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on charges of Theft, Aggravated Theft, and Tampering with Records, according to the Harrison Press.

Brown was sentenced Thursday to six years. He had faced up to 36 years, but the plea agreement resulted in several more charges against him being dismissed.

Brown admitted to creating fake certificates of title for vehicles after the titles were seized from 2010 through last year. Most of the loans were made through West Harrison-based Merchants Bank& Trust.

Brown told the court that the bank has already seized his home and sold it, the Press reported.
