Firefighters say nobody was home and there were no injuries after a house fire in Switzerland County Thursday.
A home at 11311 East State Road 156 just east of Vevay was completely destroyed by fire, said Jefferson-Craig Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Chris See.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at about 3:00 p.m. The two-story home was fully engulfed upon their arrival.
State Road 156 was closed at the scene for about 90 minutes. About 40 firefighters and EMS personnel remained on the scene extinguishing the fire for over four hours.
A cause of the blaze is still under investigation, See said.
Jefferson-Craig Fire Department was assisted by other departments from Posey Township, Patriot, East Enterprise, and Moorefield, as well as Switzerland County EMS.

(Vevay, Ind.) – A large blaze forced firefighters to shut down State Road 156 near Vevay Thursday afternoon.
A house fire was reported at 11311 East State Road 156 at about 3:30 p.m.
It is unclear if anybody was home at the time of the fire or if there were any injuries.
Four area fire departments responded to the scene: Jefferson-Craig, Posey Township, Patriot, and East Enterprise.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
