(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Perfect North Slopes will host the Indiana Special Olympics winter games for the second consecutive year next week.

“Last year the state winter games were held at Perfect North and it went so well they are coming back again,” said Maria Sassaman, Indiana Special Olympics Area 9 Director.

From January 8 through 10, special athletes from across Indiana will gather at the Lawrenceburg ski area to compete in events including skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. There will also be parties, a dance, and movie night for the athletes and their families.

One element is missing, however. Sassaman says about 70 volunteers are needed to help make the events work.

Volunteers can choose to work any of three shifts being offered:

January 9 morning session 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.

January 9 afternoon session 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.

January 10 morning session 9:00 a.m. to noon.

“Lunch will be provided if you volunteer for both sessions on Monday, in addition there is a discounted coupon given to every volunteer that would like to take advantage of the slopes after their session is over,” said Sassaman.

People who would like to volunteer are asked to e-mail info@soindiana-area9.org with the following information: name, age, contact phone number, contact e-mail address, and which session(s) to volunteer for.
