John Casey

BCSO

(Florence, Ky.) - An Elsmere man is accused of stealing scrap metal from two Boone County construction companies.

It’s yet another bust made by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Scrap Task Force, who have identified over 130 instances in the last six months of metal thefts from churches, businesses, colleges, homes under construction, barns, cellular phone towers, and catalytic converters from vehicles.

In the latest instance, John Casey allegedly took the metal from Mubea Construction on Dixie Highway in Florence last October. He is also connected to a similar theft at Lawrence Construction on Shoreland Drive in Walton sometime last September and November.

Investigators say he then sold the scrap at a recycling center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Casey, 41, is charged with two counts of Theft. He is being held at the Boone County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
