(Ripley County, Ind.) - Want to run for your local school board? There is one week left for Indiana school board candidates to file for election.

The deadline to file is Friday, August 24 at noon.

Candidates will run for open board seats on the November 6 ballot.

You can file your declarations of candidacy at your county clerk’s office, with some exceptions.

Diane Macek, election deputy for the Ripley County Clerk of Courts, says candidates in the Batesville Community School Corporation who live in Franklin County must file in the Ripley County Clerk's Office.

Likewise, Macek says, Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corporation board member candidates living in Ripley County will file candidacy in Dearborn County.

In addition to living within the school district for which they are running, candidates must also obtain signatures from at least 10 registered voters who live within that district.
