Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle Outside Local Casino

The deadly accident happened on New Year's Eve.

(Switzerland County, Ind.) - A man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle outside of Belterra Casino Resort in Switzerland County on New Year’s Eve.

Indiana State Police say Robert Loughry, 47, was with a group of people attempting to cross State Road 156 from the casino to reach an overflow parking lot when he was hit at around 11:10 p.m. Monday.

Loughry, who was from Gahanna, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Switzerland County Coroner’s Office.

The Mazda passenger car which struck Loughry was driven by Patricia Villines, 62, of Warsaw, Kentucky.

State police say toxicology results for the driver and the victim are pending.

ISP troopers were also assisted at the scene by the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department, Switzerland County EMS, Belterra Casino Security Department, and the Pleasant Township Fire Department.
