(Franklin County, Ind.) - The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Flood Warning for Franklin County until 2:00 p.m. Thursday.
At 7:39 a.m., local law enforcement reported flooding in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible.
Some locations that may experience flooding include Brookville, West College Corner, Oldenburg, Lake Santee, Blooming Grove, Columbia, Metamora, Laurel, Everton, Alpine, Peppertown, Nulltown, Mounds State Recreation Area, Buena Vista, Hamburg, Andersonville, Billingsville, Charlottesville and Mixersville.
Several roads were reported closed on Wednesday due to high water or flooding. The county is under a Level Orange Travel Watch.
Motorists are urged to never drive through flooded roads, as it can lead to death. The NWS also advises residents to keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.
