Ohio Murder Suspect Could Be Connected To Katelyn Markham

Katelyn Markham's remains were discovered in Franklin County in 2013.

Murder suspect Michael Strouse (left) was an acquaintance of Katelyn Markham, whose murder remains unsolved.

(West Chester, Oh.) - The investigation of an unsolved murder of a Fairfield, Ohio woman whose remains were discovered in Franklin County may have a new lead.

Katelyn Markham disappeared from her home in 2011. The 21-year-old art student's skeletal remains were discovered along Big Cedar Road in Cedar Grove in 2013.

There have been no arrests or suspects named in the case. However, investigators may have found a new lead.

Michael Strouse is accused of killing Ellen Weik, 23, on July 29 at his home in Liberty Township, Ohio. Strouse, 29, has admitted to strangling Weik, investigators said. Her body was discovered in a field in Liberty Township on August 24.

According to the Hamilton Journal-News, photos arose on social media showing Markham and Strouse with other people. Indiana State Police Detective Vance Patton told the newspaper that Strouse and Markham were acquaintances.

Indiana State Police, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfield Police and West Chester Police are now talking about a possible connection between Strouse and the Markham case.
