(Ennis, Texas) - Lawrenceburg's favorite NHRA Top Fuel dragster driver, J.R. Todd, made his second championship round appearance of the 2014 season on Sunday. Todd, 32, piloted Kalitta Motorsports' Optima Batteries/Advance Auto Parts Top Fuel dragster to a second place finish at the 29th Annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex outside of Dallas. Todd's best speed of the weekend came in the first elimination round at 323.04 MPH to cross the finish list in 3.185 seconds. The Lawrenceburg native earned two more victories to advance to the championship heat versus Tony Schumacher. Schumacher bested Todd 3.891 seconds (318.62 MPH) to 4.134 seconds (251.49). The win boosted Todd from 10th in points in the Top Fuel Countdown to the Championship to now 5th place. Todd has won one NHRA event, the Mopar Mile-High Nationals in Denver in July. It was his first title since 2008. The Lawrenceburg native has now raced in 11 championship rounds in his Top Fuel career.
