Huey Helicopter Rides Return to Aurora on May 17

(Aurora, Ind.) - Community members and visitors to southeast Indiana can take a ride in a Huey helicopter this month. 

Ten-minute rides will be offered from the Lighthouse Point Yacht Marina in Aurora on Saturday, May 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cost is $100 per person, per ride. Children under 12 ride for $50. World War II and Korean War Veterans ride free. The flights run an average of 10 to 12 minutes, with flight groups of eight people per flight. All rides are first-come, first-serve. 

The event will also include food trucks, restrooms, and free parking. 

Originally known as the Bell UH-1 Iroquois, the “Huey” helicopter was a multipurpose military helicopter used heavily during the Vietnam war. The City of Aurora is also home to a Huey monument located in Lesko Park along the Ohio River in honor of all Vietnam veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice.
