Jason Burton led the program for three years.

(North Vernon, Ind.) - Jennings County High School is in need of a new varsity football head coach.
Jason Burton announced his resignation on Tuesday after three years leading the program.
"This decision did not come lightly. It is one I have struggled with greatly, because I genuinely love our players and wanted nothing more than to see Panther Football achieve the success, we have worked so hard to build throughout our K–12 program. Ultimately, after considerable thought and reflection, I concluded that stepping away and pursuing other professional opportunities was the best decision at this time," said Burton.
Jennings County has gone 4-26 over the past three seasons.
Despite the poor record, Burton remains optimistic about the future of the program.
Over the past three years, we have made meaningful strides in laying a foundation for continued growth. We navigated the transition to independent status for football, creating greater flexibility in scheduling and opportunities to pursue competitive balance. We worked to strengthen the middle school program and established the Jennings County Youth Football (JCYF) program to better serve our youth football community through flag football and Grades 3–6 tackle football. At the high school level, we emphasized academic accountability through our weekly program expectations and worked to develop our players beyond the football field through our Team Themes program, providing valuable lessons about life, leadership, and personal responsibility, said Burton.
Jennings County's season came to an end last Friday after a loss to East Central in the Sectional 23 Semifinals.
