(Batesville, Ind.) – The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning some work on Interstate 74 near Batesville next month.
Beginning Thursday, March 1, weather permitting, construction crews will be removing areas of existing pavement and replacing it with new concrete. The work will be performed in both east and west bound lanes of I-74 near the 147.5 mile marker, reducing traffic to one lane.
Motorists should be aware of lane shifts, posted speed reductions, and construction vehicles when traveling through the work zone.
The work is expected to be completed by Friday, June 1.
Oversized loads will not be permitted through the work zone due to a reduction in lane width. All wide loads traveling east and west bound must use State Road 46 between exits 143 and 149 as an alternate route. Message boards and traditional signage will be placed on I-74 to help direct motorists.
INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot.
