Press release from the Indiana Department of Transportation
(Batesville, Ind.) – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is advising motorists there will be temporary lane restrictions on Interstate 74 (I-74) in Franklin County for pavement repairs.
Beginning Tuesday, January 3, construction crews will be removing areas of concrete pavement and replacing it with new asphalt. The work will be performed in both east and west bound lanes of I-74 near the 147.5 mile marker, reducing traffic to one lane. Motorists should be aware of posted speed reductions and construction vehicles when traveling through the work zone. The work is expected to be completed by Monday, January 16, weather permitting. Crews will return sometime in March to resume work on this project.
Oversized loads will not be permitted through the work zone due to a reduction in lane width. All wide loads traveling east and west bound must use State Road 46 (S.R. 46) between exits 143 and 149.
INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot.
