INDOT Owns Up To Slow Snow Response

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Indiana Department of Transportation officials are acknowledging they botched the response to the snow that hit Indiana on Monday.

An INDOT spokesperson said they spent the day chasing the storm and did not think the need existed to try to pre-treat highways to prevent icing.

"We were behind it trying to catch up with it," INDOT’s Harry Maginity told WRTV in Indianapolis.

There were dozens of slideoffs on Interstate 74 and I-275 in Dearborn County throughout the day Monday. Thirty-three accidents were reported Monday in Dearborn County alone.

Maginity said INDOT’s response may have been slowed by the fact that many employees were given a holiday on Monday.
