(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 Proactive Grant to the Pregnancy Care Center of Southeast Indiana (PCC), which offers services to those facing an unplanned pregnancy by providing education, limited medical care, information, and resources in Southeast Indiana.

In its 25th year of helping donors make a difference, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2023 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer Board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

DCF Board Member Larry Campbell said he recommended the grant to PCC “to help young women and men to understand the value of the life of a small child and the joy it can bring to a new family.”

"I know of some young women who, with the help of others, have had their babies, and have been so thankful with the decision they made. I also had a similar experience with my wife. She was struggling with her pregnancy and was being told to not continue with it. We both knew that was not going to happen, and we were blessed with a wonderful son."

The PCC, 62 Doughty Road, Lawrenceburg, is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing education and support services from pregnancy counseling to a fatherhood/male mentoring program, said Director Sara Minard. Other services include online and in person parenting classes, pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, diapers, wipes, formula, and community referrals.

In 2022, the Center recorded 1,253 client visits, while serving 597 people in parenting classes. The Center also performed 121 pregnancy tests, 77 ultrasounds, and overall provided 7,720 services. Call 812-537-4357 for assistance, to contribute, or to learn more about services and goals. You can also visit the PCC online at supportpccindiana.org.
