AUDIO: This Weekend's Minges Weber Pumpkin Festival Is A Tradition For Many

(Harrison, Oh.) - Thousands of people will head to the Harrison area this weekend to experience a fall tradition. The Minges and Weber Family Pumpkin Festival began as the Minges Pumpkin Festival with a small backyard gathering at Minges Farm on New Haven Road in 1984. In 2015, the Weber family got involved and relocated the festival to their farm on Kilby Road. “We felt like we were nearby and we were friends. We felt like we could take it over and keep that tradition going, so for the past three years that’s what we’ve done,” Dave Weber shares. The annual festival happens Saturday and Sunday, October 21 and 22. It showcases crafts, food, rides, entertainment, and a whole lot more. “There are plenty of demonstrations this year. We’re bringing in a professional pumpkin sculptor, that’s new. We’ve got a balloon artist, a civil war encampment and artillery demonstration. We’ve got a street magician on-site. We’ve got Zimmer Tractor in Aurora brings down lots of equipment to show off. We’ve got chainsaw wood carving, petting zoo, pony rides, games, and contests for the kids that Harrison Home Bakery helps us with,” says Weber. It won't feel too fall-like this weekend, but it will be perfect weather for an outdoor event with highs in the mid-70s and no threat of rain both Saturday and Sunday.
