(Florence, KY) - No charges will be brought against the Boone County Sheriff’s deputies who shot and killed an armed suspect outside of an Amazon facility. Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders held a press conference Tuesday afternoon where he explained the just reasoning for the officers.

Attorney Sanders explained, officers are not trained in the state of Kentucky to wait for a firearm to be pointed at them or for shots to be fired for them to discharge their weapon.

Officer TJ Shinkle discharged his firearm three times while Officer Daniel Walker fired his weapon 1 time. All 4 shots hit the suspect. There was about 15 minutes from the time of officers making contact with the suspect to the shooting.

The suspect was identified as Michael Anthony Simpson from Greendale Indiana. Officers discharged their weapons as Mr. Simpson was closing the distance between himself and the officers.

This all came from the report of stolen trailer from a truck stop. Officers were able to locate the trailer due to gps tracking on the trailer.
