The Dillsboro Public Library has been selected to host a traveling Smithsonian exhibit, "Crossroads: Change in Rural America," which highlights the changing landscape in rural America. Since 1900, the percentage of Americans living in rural areas dropped from 60 percent to 17 percent, yet the vast majority of America’s physical landscape remains rural.

"Crossroads" looks at this remarkable societal change and how rural Americans responded. The photographs are invited to explore the past, present and future of Dillsboro.

Rules:
1. Amateur and professional photographers are welcome.
2. Photographers must be age 13-years-old and up and can reside locally or
out-of-state.
3. Three entries per photographer are permitted
4. Printed 8” x 10” entries only —framing is not required.
5. Entries will be accepted until 6 p.m. on August 6, 2019. Entries may be
delivered in person during normal business hours or by mail to:

6. Entrants must include their name, address, telephone number, e-mail
address, amateur or professional status, the photo title (if applicable) and
a description of each photo with their entry.
7. Photographs will be evaluated by a panel of judges appointed by the
Aurora Public Library District, and then added to the APLD webpage
(eapld.org) and/or Facebook page on or around August 19 for public
viewing. One winner from the amateur category and one winner from the
professional category will each be awarded a $100 gift card.
8. All entries become the property of the Dillsboro Public Library and may be
used to promote the Library’s Museum on Main Street Crossroads: Change
in Rural America exhibition. Images may also be used in the exhibit
through the exhibit period of September 7 – October 20, 2019 and/or online promotions without compensation and/or photo credit. Rights to all
images remain the property of the individual photographers.
9. Entries will be on display at the Dillsboro Public Library after judging. A
reception will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.
