INDIANAPOLIS - Three wrestlers from southeast Indiana will compete at the IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Finals.
For the second year in a row, Switzerland County's Klaire Redwine and Milan's Kayla Roell are going to state. They are joined by Franklin County's Chloe Bills.
Redwine, a senior, finished as the runner-up in the 125-pound weight class at the Bloomington South Regional. Fellow senior, Kayla Roell, won the Muncie Central Regional at 125-pounds. Bills placed in the top four, advancing to state.
The State Finals take place Friday, January 15 at the Corteva Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
Roell is seeking her second-straight state championship. She made history as Indiana's first 120-pound state champion at the inaugural state finals last year.
At 31-1 on the season, Roell is ranked 2nd in her weight class by Indiana Mat. Redwine, a state qualifier a year ago, is 28-2 on the season and ranked 4th at 125 pounds. Bills is 16-7 on the season and unranked.
Roell and Bills are on the top side of the bracket and could meet in the semifinals. Redwine will have to navigate the bottom side of the bracket, which features top-ranked Corbella Weasley (38-0, Fr, Hobart).
