Batesville Girls, Greensburg Boys Victorious at EIAC Cross Country Meet

(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville High School played host to the EIAC Cross Country meet on Saturday. 

The Bulldogs took advantage of the great weather and competing on their home course, as they had eight personal bests, and nine individuals making the All-Conference Team by placing in the top 15 of their respective races.

Jayla Bedel won the girls race, making her the EIAC individual champion. Bedel crossed the finish line with a time of 19:14. 

Francesca Myers finished 3rd (20:20), Sydney Gilland was 5th (20:24), Caitlin Raver was 7th (20:43) and Paige Allegeier was 8th (20:44), earning All-Conference honors. 

East Central's Lily Gambrel and Alyssa Donawerth also made All-Conference, placing 6th and 9th, respectively. Franklin County's Paige Unterlechner finished 11th, earning All-Conference.

In the boys race, Greensburg took the EIAC title with a narrow 46-52 win over Batesville. The Pirates were led by individual EIAC champion Quinton Walker (17:01), Benjamin Schneider (4th), Braylon Brancamp (7th) and Conner Bedel (16th). 

Batesville's Ryan Benz was the runner-up with a 17:16. He was joined on the All-Conference Team by teammates Levi Essick (9th), Cael Luhman (10th) and Duncan Fish (12th). 

East Central's top performer was Abram Hiltz. He placed 3rd with a time of 17:19. Anthony Toler (11th) and Cooper Middendorf (15th) join Hiltz on the All-Conference Team. 

Lawrenceburg had two all-conference honorees. Coleman Hughes placed 5th and Rylynn Head was 6th. South Dearborn's Teagan Burk placed 8th and Franklin County's Ben Riffle was 13th to round out notable all-conference honorees.
