South Ripley, OA, L'Burg Advance to Sectional Championship Round

East Central, South Dearborn, Switz. Co., and Rising Sun saw their seasons end on Thursday

(Southeast Indiana) - It was a mixed bag of results for area high school boys soccer teams on Thursday night. 

Sectional semifinal matches were played at East Central, Lawrenceburg and Jac-Cen-Del. 

In Class 3A, East Central's season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Columbus East. The match was scoreless at halftime, but three second half goals propelled the Olympians to the sectional title game - where they will face off with crosstown rival Columbus North. 

East Central ends the season with an EIAC championship and a record of 11-5-1. 

At The Pit in Lawrenceburg, Madison and Switzerland County squared off in a Sectional 29 semifinal. The Cubs took a 1-0 lead into halftime and were able to add two second half goals on their way to a 3-0 win over the Pacers. The host Tigers (9-6-2) defeated South Dearborn 5-0 in the second semifinal to set up Saturday's championship match with Madison (14-3-1). The Tigers won the regular season meeting 2-1. 

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM Saturday at Lawrenceburg. 

In Class A, #4 Oldenburg Academy was victorious over Union County by a score of 2-0. The Twisters advance to the sectional championship, where they will meet South Ripley. The Raiders defeated Rising Sun 5-2 behind two goals from Keeton Miller and Shawn Riehle. Weston Cumberworth and Cooper Merica were the goalscorers for Rising Sun. 

Oldenburg (14-3) and South Ripley (8-7-1) will play for the sectional title on Saturday at 7:00 PM at Jac-Cen-Del High School.
