Wood-Mizer LLC, the world’s leading sawmill manufacturer, announces plans to build a new production facility in Batesville, Indiana. The new facility will replace Wood-Mizer’s current sawmill manufacturing plant operating in New Point, Indiana.

Wood-Mizer reached an agreement with Southeast Indiana area leaders to establish an 85,000 square-foot manufacturing facility on 13 acres of land in Batesville, Indiana. The plant will immediately bring 120 jobs to the area while creating 15 additional job opportunities for the community.

“The new Wood-Mizer manufacturing facility is an important investment that will bring jobs and opportunity for future economic growth to our community,” said Rick Fledderman, Mayor of Batesville. “We are very eager to work with Wood-Mizer and look forward to our continued partnership in the future.”

The City of Batesville encouraged Wood-Mizer to build the production plant in Batesville by offering an incentive package that included benefits such as project financing. Wood-Mizer has announced an $8.4 million investment in the land, building, equipment, and improvements for the new manufacturing facility.

“Being involved with the Southeast Indiana community for more than 30 years, we wanted to establish an opportunity for expansion for both Wood-Mizer and the local economy,” said Wood-Mizer COO Darryl Floyd. “While becoming one of the largest companies in Batesville, Wood-Mizer is excited to continue manufacturing sawmills in a more efficient and larger capacity at this location and we’d like to thank the City of Batesville for their assistance in making this opportunity possible.”

Scheduled for completion in December 2015, the facility will produce Wood-Mizer’s industry leading product line of portable sawmills, industrial sawmills, and blade maintenance equipment that is distributed throughout the world.
