Body of North Vernon man recovered from Crosley Lake

(Jennings County, IN) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a drowning that occurred yesterday evening at Crosley Lake in Jennings County.

The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 9 p.m., Christopher Allman, 20, of North Vernon, was attempting to back a pickup truck down the boat ramp at Crosley Lake. While he was doing so, the pickup entered the water and traveled approximately 100 feet from the ramp. Allman and a passenger exited the cab and attempted to swim back to shore.

The passenger made it back to shore safely, but Allman went under the water and did not resurface.

At 1:12 a.m., Indiana Conservation Officers recovered Allman’s body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
