(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Seeing the difference first-hand that the James B. Wismann YES Home makes in the lives of youth who have experienced trauma inspired Dearborn Community Foundation Board Member Lisa Moorhead to recommend the organization receive a $1,000 DCF Proactive Grant.
In the Foundation’s 28th year of helping donors make a difference, each of its 15 Board members are recommending a $1,000 grant to a charitable organization that serves Dearborn County residents. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.
The YES Home was Moorhead’s solid choice.

“Throughout my years in education, I have had the opportunity to work with the YES Home and see the difference they make in the lives of youth who have experienced trauma,” said Moorhead, who is Vice Chancellor-Student Affairs for Ivy Tech Community College, Lawrenceburg/Batesville. “The YES Home provides care, guidance, and healing services in a safe, structured home environment.”
She added: The YES Home ensures a “strong connection to our local schools and community. Their dedication and commitment to their youth residents is unmatched, and I am happy to support their mission with a proactive grant.”
Youth Encouragement Services (YES Home) provides a safe, family-like home for youth ages 12-20 who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Through trauma-informed care and evidence-based treatment, the organization has helped young people heal, develop life skills, and build brighter futures since 1981.
