UPDATE: Phase 1B is now beginning this afternoon, Thursday, April 24, as crews have completed additional items ahead of schedule.
(Aurora, Ind.) - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Paul H. Rohe Company continues pavement rehabilitation work on U.S. 50 west of Aurora in Dearborn County.
Beginning on or after Friday, April 25, crews will begin Phase 1B of the pavement rehabilitation project between State Road 350 and Dutch Hollow Road in Aurora. Drivers can expect the following traffic restrictions on U.S. 50 during Phase 1B through early August, weather permitting.
- All traffic will be shifted to the eastbound lanes of U.S. 50 using temporary crossovers while westbound construction is in progress.
- U.S. 50 will be reduced to 35 mph and an 11-foot lane width reduction will be in effect.
- Motorists will be unable to access 2nd Street or Exporting Street from U.S. 50.
- The right lane of westbound U.S. 50 will be right turn only onto S.R. 350 just east of the project area.
- The left lane of westbound U.S. 50 will be used for thru traffic and left turns onto State Road 56 just east of the project area.
Additional traffic shifts will take place while overall work is in progress. INDOT will continue to provide information and updates as work progresses. Overall work is expected to be complete in early November, weather permitting. Initial project information can be found here.
This work is part of a $8.7 million contract awarded Paul H. Rohe in February 2025. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
