Turfway Park Racing & Gaming Celebrates Grand Opening

Live racing is set to return in November.

(Florence, Ky.) - A new winning legacy begins today in Florence with the grand opening of Turfway Park Racing and Gaming.

The opening of the new and improved Turfway Park has been years in the making. Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) acquired Turfway Park from JACK Ohio LLC and Hard Rock International for $46 million in October of 2019.

The former Turfway Park was demolished to make way for a new grandstand and state-of-the-art facility, which CDI invested $150 million to build.

The new facility will feature over 800 gaming machines, live racing, two dining options, and live music.

When live racing resumes in November, attendees will notice upgrades to the track. In March 2020, Turfway’s Polytrack was replaced with a new $8.1 million Tapeta synthetic track – which is one of the world’s leading surfaces for racing and training, according to Turfway Park officials.

CDI is investing an additional $31 million in the backside of Turfway Park to improve the dormitories for the track workers, add five new barns for horses, and install new stormwater collection systems to improve the environment around the facility.

Turfway Park’s two dining options will offer grab-and-go and sit-down options.

Serena’s Market is your grab-and-go spot with hot coffee, cold beer, breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, house-made chili and more. The more traditional sit-down restaurant is called Churchill’s Bourbon and Brew. The menu includes starters, fresh salads, burgers, desserts and sweet treats and a variety of bourbon, beer, wine, and cocktails.

On weekends, Churchill’s Bourbon and Brews is the spot for live music. See the live music schedule at https://www.turfway.com/entertainment/.
