Trump Campaign Takes Issue With Rokita's Yard Signs

U.S. Senate candidate Todd Rokita’s yard signs state “Endorsed by: TRUMP /  PENCE”.

Indiana U.S. Senate Republican candidates (left to right) Todd Rokita, Luke Messer, and Mike Braun.

(Undated) - President Trump's campaign wants Indiana congressman Todd Rokita to get some new signs.

The president's re-election team this week told Rokita to take the Trump-Pence name off his campaign signs. The president's campaign says they have not endorsed anyone in Indiana's Republican primary for U.S. Senate, and they don't want anyone to get the wrong idea from Rokita's yard signs.

Two unnamed sources with knowledge of the situation told the Associated Press of the situation.

Rokita’s signs state “Endorsed by: TRUMP /  PENCE” Below that in smaller font is “2016 Indiana Team Leaders”.

A congressman representing Indiana’s 4th congressional district, Rokita is in a fierce GOP primary election battle with 6th district congressman Luke Messer and former state representative Mike Braun.

Messer’s campaign has taken a page out of Trump’s playbook, adding an adjective before Rokita’s name in a statement about the campaign sign issue.

"Lying Todd Rokita is a classic career politician who will say and do anything to get elected," Messer campaign manager Chasen Bullock said. "Todd Rokita's worst lie is his record of support for President Trump. He wears a MAGA hat on TV, but votes against President Trump in Washington."
