(Connersville, Ind.) - A Connersville High School teacher who lives in Brookville is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.
Indiana State Police say teacher and basketball coach James D. Spivey, 29, was arrested for felony Child Seduction on Tuesday.
On February 6, authorities learned that Spivey was having sex with a 17-year-old female student and basketball player who played for the team he coached.
“The investigation revealed Spivey and the student began a relationship shortly after the start of the basketball season which later became a sexual relationship with the encounters occurring at Spivey’s residence,” said Indiana State Police Sgt. Noel Houze.
State police investigators turned their findings over to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, which decided to file the charge against Spivey on Tuesday.
Spivey resigned as a teacher and coach at Connersville High School shortly after the investigation began.
