South Dearborn Opening Knight, Overtones Win Grand Champion at Ohio Show

Maddy Burress and Jake Britton were among the top performers.

(Aurora, Ind.) - It was a big weekend for the South Dearborn Opening Knight and newly named combo band, the Overtones. 

They were named Class B Grand Champions at the Ada Music Fest Show Choir Competition this past Saturday near Lima, Ohio. 

In addition, they received overall Outstanding Show Concept, and were named a nighttime finalist. 

Individually, sophomore Maddy Burress won Best Female Soloists, while Jake Britton was named the Outstanding Performer. 

Opening Knight is choreographed by Opening Knight alum, Jeff Burton.  Instrumental Director is Zach Francis with additional assistance by Eli Ridlen. South Dearborn Opening Knight is under the direction of Justin Selmeyer.  The South Dearborn Music Department will host their Variety Show this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm.  Both Opening Knight and the Marching Knights will perform their competitive shows.
