NKY Man Sentenced for Role in Fatal Crash

(Boone County, Ky.) – A northern Kentucky man was sentenced this week for his role in a fatal crash.

Michael Mead, of Independence, was charged last May with Manslaughter, Assault, Criminal Mischief and Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol.

The charges stemmed from a fatal accident on U.S. 42 in Union that claimed the life of 46-year-old Charles Smith on March 20, 2022.

On Wednesday, Mead was sentenced to seven years behind bars.

Mead previously pleaded guilty manslaughter, criminal mischief, and OWI.
