(Milan, Ind.) - A host of summer activities are planned at Milan’s Daren Baker Memorial Park.
The park board has been busy updating and improving the community park since it formed in 2016.
New this year, the park will host a summer farmer’s market each Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. starting June 11 and continuing until September. Park board president Joyce Call says the market will be free for vendors to set up and sell their goods.
“We hope to support local farmers and businesses,” says Call.
The 4th annual Running Hog 5K Night Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 29 at 8:00 p.m. The race is the park’s biggest fundraiser. You can return 5K registration forms to Milan Town Hall or register online at www.stuartroadracing.com.
“This year it will be held in the Daren Baker Memorial park and runners will get a chance to see all the park improvements over the last three years,” Call explains.
Work on a new basketball court at Daren Baker Memorial Park began last fall and will be ready for pickup games soon.
“They continue to secure donations for sponsor blocks around the new court and hope to have it completed later this summer,” says Call.
