(Milan, Ind.) - Milan and Delaware fire departments were called to Milan High School on Friday morning for a report of a garbage truck on fire.
The call came in around 5:00 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews found that the driver of the truck was able to push the load off and move the truck away from the fire, which occurred near the Milan High School football field press box and bleachers.
Engine #22 was able to lay in off a hydrant on Mill Road and then push an attack on the fire quickly bringing it under control.
After the fire was extinguished the trash service company took over responsibility for the clean-up.
"I want to give a big SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to the Milan and Delaware fire departments for their efforts this morning containing the Bestway truck container fire that happened behind our HS school. The driver of the truck followed all protocol, alerting 911 immediately. The fire departments responded to the call quickly and extinguished the fire in a matter of minutes. Thank you to everyone involved, we sincerely appreciate all your efforts," reads a statement from Milan Community Schools.
