(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – An estimated 38 million Americans will be hitting the road this Thanksgiving week according to AAA.
They’ll mostly be paying over $3.00 for a gallon of fuel to travel over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house.
The average price for a gallon of fuel in the tri-state Wednesday is $3.16 according to tracking website CincyGasPrices.com.
The national average is $3.36. Despite gas prices being slightly higher during the holiday period in 2010, travel is expected to be 3.5 percent higher this year according to AAA. More people will be travelling closer to home, though, by going less than 250 or 400 miles.
Stations in northern Kentucky, Harrison, and Cleves have prices ranging from $3.07 to $3.19 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
Folks fueling up in southeast Indiana will pay a little more, however, with most stations charging upwards of $3.40. Retailers along U.S. 50 in Lawrenceburg, Greendale, and Aurora were advertising $3.49 Wednesday morning.
Gas stations in St. Leon and Batesville were spotted in the $3.20’s.
