L'burg Man Connected To Batesville Burglary

Phillip Lovins

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office

(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville Police may have solved the case of multiple burglaries as a Lawrenceburg man is charged.

Phillip Lovins, 26, of Lawrenceburg, has been charged with burglary for a break-in at a home on Chateau Boulevard in Batesville last September 4. The homeowner who had been on vacation reported jewelry, electronics, and cash taken.

Batesville Police used forensic evidence to solve the crime. Evidence was submitted to the Indiana State Police crime lab in Indianapolis where Lovins was linked to the scene November 1.

Lovins is also wanted in Decatur County for thefts there.  He is currently in jail in Hamilton County, Ohio on burglary and theft charges.

Once his case is resolved in Ohio, Lovins will be extradited to Indiana where he will face a single charge of Burglary (Class B felony) in Ripley County. Lovins faces up to 20 years in prison for that crime alone.

Batesville Police Chief Stan Holt said detectives continue to work with other law enforcement agencies to investigate similar cases during that time.
