Lawrenceburg Police Warn of Phone Scam

Callers are seeking bond, bail money.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Scammers are spoofing local law enforcement agencies' phone numbers to try and trick residents into paying fake fines.

According to Lawrenceburg Police, scammers are actively making calls to residents to say they have warrants for arrest and are asking for bond or bail money.

"We do not call you to tell you about a warrant and we definitely don’t call you to ask for money to make a warrant go away. The jail also does not solicit for bond or bail fees. These are a scam," reads a statement from Lawrenceburg Police.

Residents are reminded to never send any money, gift cards, bitcoin, or give any personal information.
