(Aurora, Ind.) - The South Dearborn Middle School boys soccer team took on Connersville last Wednesday night, but what took place after the match outweighed the result on the field.

After the match, South Dearborn players presented the Connersville team with a plaque as a sign of support, encouragement and understanding following devastating flooding that impacted parts of Fayette County.

"For several of our own students, the situation hits close to home. They know firsthand the hardship that flooding can bring and what it feels like to see families and communities lose possessions and face the difficult task of recovering and rebuilding. Our players wanted the Connersville team to know one simple thing: You are not alone. We understand, and we are thinking of you," reads a statement from South Dearborn Middle School.

In partnership with Fayette County Emergency Management, the Fayette Community Foundation has established the Fayette County Flood Relief Fund to accept charitable donations supporting local flood relief and recovery efforts.
