Indiana Gaming Investigation Results in Search and Arrest Warrants

IGC serves warrants in Jennings and Jackson counties for animal fighting.

(Jennings County, Ind.) - An investigation initiated by the Indiana Gaming Commission’s Law Enforcement Division resulted in six arrest warrants and three search warrants in Jennings and Jackson counties for gamecock fighting.

The IGC Law Enforcement Division, with assistance from Indiana State Police, Jennings County Sheriff, Jackson County Sheriff and Seymour Police Department, issued warrants earlier this morning to search Red Wheel Game Farm related to multiple felony charges.

Those charges make up several Level 6 Felonies, including purchasing animals for fighting contest, conspiracy to commit promoting an animal fighting contest, conspiracy to commit professional gambling, money laundering and tax evasion. The operations under investigation involved approximately 200 diseased birds.

The IGC launched the investigation nearly a year ago in south central Indiana. 

“Today’s search and arrests are the result of careful investigative work into an operation that is not only illegal, but cruel and inhumane,” said IGC Law Enforcement Superintendent Brock Pilgrim. “Sadly, these birds will have to be euthanized due to disease. We want today’s actions to send a clear message that those who engage in such barbaric and illegal activities will be held accountable in Indiana.” 

The IGC Law Enforcement Division said it is currently investigating similar operations in Indiana.

“I commend the Indiana Gaming Commission for its careful investigation in bringing this dark operation to a halt,” said Indiana Governor Mike Braun. “Today’s apprehensions will send a message this this activity has no place in Indiana’s borders and we will act to diligently ensure that our gaming industry remains free from criminal activity.”

The names of those involved were not released.
