Approximately 1,250 children will receive a free book through the sponsorship.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Approximately 1,250 children in Dearborn County will receive a free book in December from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library thanks to sponsorship by the Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends more than one million books per month to children from birth to age five around the world inspiring them to Dream More, Learn More, Care More and Be More. Earlier this year, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library announced it has surpassed 270 million total books gifted since the program’s inception in 1995.
The books are sent 100 percent free to enrolled children because a local affiliate has secured funds to cover the cost of the books and the shipping fees. The Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg is supporting local affiliate Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Dearborn County by sponsoring the book distribution in December 2025.
“Continuing the mission from when the Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club was founded over 100 years ago, our local Kiwanians today are always looking for ways to help address the needs and improve the lives of children. Our club members felt Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Club Treasurer Ted Richardt.
Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg raises funds through the club’s annual golf outing held at Hidden Valley Golf Club, water and soft drink sales at downtown Lawrenceburg events, Lawrenceburg Main Street Music on the River split-the-pot, and revenues from Kiwanis vending machines.
“Partnering with our local Imagination Library affiliate is just one of many activities our club proudly supports, along with scholarships, sponsorships, and Kiwanis International activities across Indiana and around the world. I thank our members and the local businesses which generously support our Kiwanis fundraisers throughout the year,” said Lawrenceburg Club President Mike Perleberg.
Parents can check availability and register their children at www.imaginationlibrary.com. Other area organizations are invited to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Dearborn County by contacting program coordinator Laura Priebe at (812) 584-8516 or indearbornimaginationlibrary@gmail.com.
The Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg holds a lunch meeting each Tuesday, 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Zion Church, 340 Walnut Street, Lawrenceburg. The club is always welcoming new members, including businesses which can participate as corporate members giving their employees an avenue to give back to the community.
