(Ripley County, Ind.) -  Community members are coming together to support the family of Jon Spurlock after he was critically injured just a little over a week ago.

Spurlock, a 22-year-old native of Ripley County and Aurora resident, was believed to be visiting his girlfriend at a college party on the west side of Indianapolis on April 15 when he was shot in the head.

From all indications, Spurlock was an innocent bystander who was injured in a random act of violence. According to family friend Angela Strunk, a group of uninvited guest showed up to the party and when they were asked to leave someone opened fire from outside of the residence, striking Spurlock.

"He was at the wrong place at the wrong time," Strunk said.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say no arrests have been made and no suspects have been named. The incident remains under investigation,  anyone with information is asked to contact Indianapolis Metro Police at 317-327-3811.

Strunk says Jon's family has yet to really think about justice stating, "The family is still devastated. Right now they are just focused on Jon."

Spurlock remains in an Indianapolis area hospital where he is currently unresponsive and listed in critical condition. His doctors are unsure about his future at this time.

Due to the distance between his family and the hospital, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help with overwhelming hospital, hotel and food expenses. As of Thursday morning, over $7,000 has been donated toward a $10,000 goal.

"Jon's family has been overwhelmed with the community support," said Strunk.

Donations are also being accepted at Napoleon State Bank. A golf outing is also in the works for June 3 in Milan. More information is forthcoming.
