INDIANAPOLIS – Today is National Poll Worker Recruitment Day.

Secretary of State Holli Sullivan is recognizing the civic event by encouraging more Hoosiers to become election workers.

Individuals wishing to work the polls can do so by contacting the Election Administrator in their county. There are two requirements in order to participate:

  • You must be a registered voter and a resident of the county in which you wish to work.
  • You must be at least 18 years old (or 16/17 if participating in Election Day Live).

Poll workers can earn up to $150 for their service, depending on the county.

“Our nation’s free and fair elections are a model for democracy across the globe, and poll workers are a critical part of our electoral system. The process only works with the help of everyday citizens,” Secretary Sullivan said. “As Indiana’s 2022 primary election approaches, I encourage Hoosiers to consider signing up to be a poll worker to serve their neighbors and communities.”

Indiana’s primary election takes place on Tuesday, May 3.
