(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The city of Indianapolis expected to lose money hosting Super Bowl XLVI, but the question was how much.

The loss is now estimated to be $350,000, much better than the $810,000 that had been projected by the Capital Improvement Board, the Indianapolis Star reports.

The CIB spent a little more than $3 million to host the NFL's title game, with the National Football League and its contractors paying back about $2.7 million.

The league’s reimbursement of $1.1 million was received last month.

The CIB operates Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center, where the NFL Experience fan festival was held.

In the week after the big game between New England and New York, the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association said the Super Bowl had a $155 million economic impact on central Indiana.
