(Guilford, Ind.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a deadly off-road vehicle accident in Dearborn County.
Daniel James Thomas, 60, of Guilford, was believed to be operating a Polaris Razor 1000 ORV northbound on North Dearborn Road at Ennis Ridge Road at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday, May 20.
As Thomas attempted to turn left, the four-wheeler rolled onto its side. It then struck two trees, causing the roll cage to collapse onto Thomas.
Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.
Conservation officers say Thomas was wearing a seatbelt and harness, but not a helmet.
An autopsy will be conducted. A toxicology report will determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
Indiana Conservation Officers, Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, St. Leon EMS, and Sunman EMS worked together at the crash scene.
