Great Parks, Cohen Partner to Recycle Thousands of Pounds of Holiday Lights

Drop off locations will be at six locations from Dec. 1 to Feb. 1.

(Hamilton County, Oh.) – Great Parks is renewing its holiday lights recycling program this season to divert thousands of pounds of material from going into landfills.

Holiday light sets will be accepted in specially marked bins at six Great Parks locations from December 1 to February 1.

Both LED and traditional bulb string lights can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve – Ellenwood Nature Barn
  • Glenwood Gardens - Gatehouse
  • Miami Whitewater Forest – Visitor Center
  • Sharon Woods – Sharon Centre
  • Winton Woods – Winton Centre
  • Woodland Mound – Breezy Point Pavilion

Only lights and their wiring should be dropped. Bags and boxes used to carry lights into parks should not be placed in bins.

Cohen Recycling will be responsible for collecting and recycling all the wiring and light sets after the drop-off deadline.

This is the tenth year that Great Parks and Cohen Recycling have teamed up to recycle old sets of holiday lights, with residents recycling over 34 tons of material in that time.

At the conclusion of the program, Cohen will present a check to Great Parks for the value of the recycled material.
