Fundraiser To Replace Stolen Money

(Cleves, Oh.) – After a suspected thief split with what money had previously been raised, friends of a local man are trying to raise money once again.

Chadd Kerr-Knotts, of Cleves, was hit by a SUV and ran over by a second car while walking along Edgewood Road in Crosby Township at about 2:45 a.m. on October 2. The 23-year-old died from injuries he suffered in the accident.

A supposed family friend, Lotus Melody Badgley, helped raise about $10,000 during a November 5 fundraiser to assist the Kerr-Knott’s family pay for Chadd’s funeral. Unfortunately, family and police say Badgley kept the money for herself, WKRC-TV reports.

Despite being arrested and skipping court, Badgley remains at large.

Laura McManus was a friend of Chadd. She calls Badgley a “heartless witch.”

Meanwhile, the Kerr-Knotts’ family is still without the money raised and pocketed by a woman they thought was their friend.

Now, friends are pulling together again to raise money for the family. A bake sale fundraiser will be held this Sunday, November 27 at the Harrison Community Center, 300 George Street. The event will run from noon to 5:00 p.m.

Proceeds will go to the family to make up for the money that was allegedly stolen by Badgley.

Many local businesses have made contributions to the bake sale. Anybody else interested in getting involved with the fundraiser bake sale should contact Tracey Westheider on the event’s Facebook page.
